Studbolts

Studbolts are mainly used in the offshore and petrochemical industries. Stud bolts are delivered with two nuts and a 3.1 certificate. They are also required to be ‘marked’ with a quality indication and a manufacturer’s logo.

Standard: ANSI B16.5

Thread: UNC, 8UN, UNF, BSW, metric
(standard: < 1” = UNC, 1” = 8UNC, > 1” = 8UN )

Dimensions:     inch x inch (e.g. 5/8” x 3 1/2”)
inch x mm (e.g. 5/8” x 90)
metric x mm (e.g. M16 x 90)

Note: For inch diameters the length excludes the points and for metric diameters the length includes the end points.

There are not only many different dimensions, but also many different qualities and types available. Examples of quality differences include studbolts made for high (e.g.  A193/B7) and low (e.g. A320/L7)  temperatures or carbon steels and alloys. In addition, a considerable number of different certifications and tests are possible.

Besides stud bolts, studbars (bolts with a length over 1000mm) can also be delivered according to specifications, qualities and sizes mentioned above.
